Recruitment Rundown
Tommy Rees made it known Buchner was the only quarterback option from day one as the four-star prospect was the only signal-caller recruited essentially. The California native made his first trip to South Bend for summer camp in 2018 and then returned multiple times before giving his verbal commitment in March of 2019. Buchner was the first commit in the 2021 class and never wavered in his commitment to Notre Dame.

Tyler Buchner‍ put up a monster statistical season. His grade of 97 has much more to do with his elite arm talent, ability to make big-time throws outside of the script of the play, and his dynamic ability as a runner.

He can improve his touch and his overall level of play in the pocket, but he’s on track to be a player that Notre Dame should build their offense around. I see him as a more athletic Sam Darnold.
