2024 MA QB Ryan Puglisi Steps Up On Big Stage

WOODBINE, Mary. – Ryan Puglisi‍ was looking forward to his opportunity to perform on a major stage and the 2024 Massachusetts quarterback’s experience at the Under Armour Baltimore Regional here last weekend did not disappoint.

“It was amazing, especially just running around with all these top guys,” the 6-foot-3, 190-pound freshman said afterward. “It was unbelievable.”

The Lawrence Academy signal-caller said he resisted the urge to try to directly compare himself to guys like 2022 Notre Dame quarterback commit Steve Angeli‍ who was in the same group.

“I try not to,” Puglisi said. “I try my hardest not to compare myself and to kind of stay within myself, make it me versus me. I'm never going to be like them. I'm always going to be myself. So, I try not to compare myself.”

At the same time, Puglisi acknowledged being on the same field certainly served as a good barometer for where he currently is and wants to get.

“100 percent,” he said. “I feel like these guys aren't that much better than I am right now. It's good to get out here and see all these top guys and see that I'm not that far behind them.”

Puglisi also realized the importance of jumping to grab as many reps as possible at a showcase camp.

“You can't wait around and all that stuff,” he said.

Puglisi won’t wait around this summer.

As soon as the dead period opens up, he’ll hit the road along with fellow Massachusetts quarterback Pop Watson‍, who is a recruit in the 2023 class.

“Me and Pop are going to go down to Penn State the first week of June, also Northwestern and take a look at Notre Dame too,” said Puglisi, noting the duo will make the trip down from Chicago to South Bend while in the Midwest.

Puglisi is also looking forward to getting back in Massachusetts for prospect clinics with Excel Sports Academy.

Puglisi pointed to Excel Sports co-founders Tommy Guy and Steve Martin as being instrumental in his development over the past couple years.

“Those guys are a blessing. If I didn't have them, I don't know if I would even be here right now.”
