2023 OL Trevor Lauck Looking Forward to Camping at Notre Dame
2023 Roncalli (Ind.) offensive lineman Trevor Lauck will head to Notre Dame for Irish Invasion and it will be more than just a camp trip.
The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder will make the trip to South Bend with his grandfather, Chick Lauck, who knows all about being a Notre Dame football player.
"My grandpa will be going up with me to the camp on June 6th," Lauck told ISD. "He played at Notre Dame and won a National Championship in '66.
"Every time I see him, he's asking me about this camp. He's super excited to come up with me. The whole family is excited to get up there again."
Lauck also hopes to impress the Notre Dame staff as he naturally grew up a fan of the Irish.
"I've been a huge Notre Dame fan my whole life," said Lauck. "The opportunity to get up there and compete in front of the coaches was a no-brainer to me."
The Indianapolis native will also camp at Kentucky, Michigan State and Ohio State.
Lauck already holds offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Miami (Ohio), Michigan State, Purdue, Rutgers and Toledo, and the Roncalli star uses them as motivation to work even harder.
"It's been super exciting and a fun process," explained Lauck. "It's good to have the early offers and I'm thankful for them. It keeps me motivated to work harder and try to get every offer I can.
"Kentucky was my first offer. It really caught me off guard. It was a typical school day and my coach told me I had to call a guy from Kentucky. I called and I was basically in shock when they offered. I didn't see any offers coming, so it will be a day I'll remember for a while."
Tackle is a position Lauck wants to stick at and he believes his speed will allow him to do so at the next level.
"Coaches haven't really projected anything yet," stated Lauck. "It's mainly been about building a relationship. I'd like to stick at tackle. It's where I feel the most comfortable on the offensive line.
"I feel my strength is my speed for my size. I like getting off the ball fast and having the first punch. I'm working this summer to continue to progress with my speed and get stronger in the weight room to hopefully have a really good junior season."
