2023 Kettle Moraine (Wis.) quarterback Chase Spellman‍ is in the same position as many of his peers as he's looking to impress college coaches this summer.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder doesn't hold an offer just yet, but it's only a matter of time for the Spellman as several schools have been in contact with him this spring.

In fact, Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken has been in consistent communication with Spellman.

"I was on the phone with Georgia and Coach Monken," Spellman told ISD. "We talk weekly. We were catching up and talking about coming down for camp. I'm going down on June 1st and then again on June 17th."

Maturity is always something coaches look for in a quarterback and Spellman has likely impressed many of the schools who have started to recruit him.

"There have been a handful of schools that have reached out to my head coach and my quarterback coach," explained Spellman. "I've been in contact with a couple of schools. Cincinnati, Georgia, Iowa State, Northwestern and Wisconsin are probably the schools showing the most interest and the ones I'm talking to the most."

Spellman will camp at Cincinnati, Georgia, Iowa, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame on June 22nd.

The Irish staff hasn't been in contact with the Wisconsin native just yet, but Spellman is looking to get his name on the Notre Dame recruiting board following the camp.

"I'm excited to get to Notre Dame," said Spellman. "I've been down to Notre Dame for a game before and I love the atmosphere there. They're not really recruiting me right now and I'm not on their board, which is fine. I hope I can meet Coach Rees down there and get to know the coaching staff and check out the place."

Spellman doesn't feel any pressure to perform well in June, which likely speaks to his maturity as many prospects would feel the world on their shoulders.

"I don't think I'm nervous or anything," stated Spellman. "I'm confident in my skills and with what I can do. I know I'll go out there and throw well."

The Kettle Moraine star has also made sure to put in the work. Spellman has started to work with quarterback coach Danny Hernandez, who is based out of Southern California.

Hernandez has worked with the nation's top quarterbacks, including quite a bit of time with Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner.

"I sent him a message sometime last summer," explained Spellman. "I just wanted to do a Zoom session. We've done Zoom sessions and I've been out to California twice to throw.

“From a mechanical standpoint, he has helped me so much with balance, throwing motion and all of it. We'll do Zoom meetings to break down film and stuff. I think he's helped me a lot on the mental side of the game too."

The work has been put in and now it's only a matter of time before Spellman earns his first offer and he knows it will be an emotional moment.

"It will be very special," Spellman said. "I worked really hard to get that first offer and hopefully, it's coming soon.

"You fall in love with the process and you get in the work. Offers will come."

Spellman will also be paying close attention to the schools he's camping and visiting this summer as he already knows what he wants in a future school.

"Academics, good relationship with the coaching staff and whatever feels like home is important," said Spellman. "I'll have to see that and I'm going to all these schools to check them all out to see what I like best and I'll go from there."
