2023 Marion (Iowa) athlete Alex Mota‍ got his first look at Notre Dame over the weekend as he was in town for Irish Invasion.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder arrived on campus early to get a tour and it didn’t disappoint.

"We toured the campus before the camp at like 9 am,” Mota told ISD. “We got to see everything. The football field was good and the locker room. We saw the academic stuff and they compete with the top schools in the country in all that stuff."

Mota has played quarterback, receiver and defensive back for his high school team, so it’s no surprise to hear the Irish worked him out on both sides of the ball on Sunday.

"It went well,” stated Mota. “We were just working hard together with the coaches.

"They wanted us to focus on finish drills, working hard at everything we do and just competing."

Playing two positions isn’t easy in a camp setting, but Mota was pleased with his performance at receiver and defensive back.

"I think I did pretty solid,” Mota said. “The competition was good."

Mota will now finish his June schedule with some local programs, but he hopes to return to Notre Dame to see a game this fall.

"I'll probably come back in the fall,” said Mota. “I'll be visiting schools and getting used to the recruiting process. I want to find where I fit.

"I'm going to Iowa State on Tuesday and then Iowa the following week and Mizzou."

Offers: Iowa, Iowa State and Kansas State (QB)
