Notre Dame had five commits take part in the Under All-America Game on Sunday afternoon in Orlando. Quarterback Avery Davis, receiver Paulson Adebo and linebacker David Adams were on Team Armour, while tight end Brock Wright and offensive lineman Robert Hainsey were on Team Highlight.
Team Armour took home the hardware in a 24-21 win and the future looks bright for Notre Dame, especially at the tight end position.
Brock Wright - Looked very, very good in the run game and the pass game. It will be very interesting to see how he progresses this spring. I was extremely impressed with his body of work today.
The Texas native finished his day as the leading receiver for Team Highlight with two catches for 45 yards, which included a long of 26. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder also caught a two-point conversion for a score.
Robert Hainsey - Struggled a bit when he was playing right tackle, but that's expected, as these games aren't made to make the offensive line look good. Hainsey did make some very good blocks throughout the game and played well at LG.
Avery Davis - Struggled with accuracy on the day, but that was the knock with him coming in. Davis missed his receiver on three big-plays, which two of them would have went for long TDs. It wasn't by much and is something that you can chalk up to not being familiar with the receivers too. Davis did throw a 79-yard score to Jeff Thomas, which Thomas did most of the work.
Overall, Davis hit the throws he was supposed to hit and missed some of the big play balls. He was very good in the run game too.
On the day, Davis went 3 of 12 for 94 yards and a touchdown in the air and added 17 more yards on the ground.
Paulson Adebo - Looked pretty good. Didn't make an explosive play, but had a couple big catches in the game. Route running is his weakness, but he might not need to ever run a route at Notre Dame too. If he does play offensive in South Bend, I'd expect him to get pretty good. Just an athlete Notre Dame doesn't have too many of.
Adebo’s final stats were two catches for 20 yards.
David Adams - Didn't do anything to really stick out. I hate to use the All-Star game "excuse", but all the substituting and what not, it's hard for anyone to get a feel for the game. Adams did get beat on a wheel route, but I highly doubt he will ever be put in that situation at Notre Dame with a RB 1-on-1 with no safety help. He actually played the pass game pretty well and put himself in position to get a couple mop up tackles on short passes.
The standout of the game was St. Louis receiver Jeff Thomas, who recorded three catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns.
