The recruiting process is just getting started for Luis Cordova‍, but the 2024 Arizona offensive lineman already has a dream school in mind.

Notre Dame.

“It's always been like that,” the 6-foot-4, 280-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “I've always been in private school.”

Before enrolling at Salpointe Catholic High School, Cordova attended Saints Peter & Paul, a Catholic school with some Notre Dame connections.

“They always had that saying, 'Play Like A Champion' and I've always taken to heart,” he said. “There are like two or three teachers from Notre Dame who came to teach at Saints Peter & Paul. I've been around it my whole life.

“When I became a football player, I'd already grown up watching Notre Dame play. I've always had an interest in them. I just want to continue like an education there, just have that private school, that religious school.”

Irish assistant Del Alexander has shown preliminary interest in Cordova through his high school coach, who relayed a message.

“He just told him I was on their radar and he'd be in touch,” said Cordova.

“I can only hope for the best. It's just a blessing to be on my dream school's radar. I've just got to keep working hard.”

Cordova picked up his first offer of the process last month from Arizona.

“It was a blessing just getting an offer from my home city,” he said. “I've also been around it my whole life, grew up all around it.

“I just can't thank God enough. He did it. I was just in shock when I first received the offer. My family is so happy for me. There's more to come, I've just got to keep grinding. But I'm happy.”

Cordova said college scouts like the way he plays the game.

“I give 110 percent every play,” he said. “I'm just very hardworking, disciplined and I just have my eye on the target. I just want to keep it that way. The coaches tell me a lot that they like what they see and I've just got to keep grinding.”

He would “most definitely” welcome the opportunity to visit South Bend in the future.

“I'd like to see the field, the campus,” he said. “The football facility I heard is really, really, really nice. I just want to be around South Bend and be around the coaches, the players and see how it is over there in Indiana.”
