Adon Shuler‍ has been in communication with the Notre Dame coaches for a while now, but on Tuesday, the 2023 defensive back finally got a chance to meet them in person.

“On the phone they're exciting and we've had great conversations, but to talk to them person, that's different,” the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder said.

“You can connect more on different things. I was with them longer than any other conversation I've ever had with them, so that was better. I got to learn a little bit about them, they got to learn a lot about me.”

The Irvington High School standout learned plenty about Notre Dame as well.

“Everything was great,” he said. “The campus is beautiful. What you see on TV is exactly what you get there. It's definitely beautiful; the Dome, the stadium, the dorms, everything.

“The experience was nice. The coaching staff was amazing. I had great connections with them.”

Most of his time was spent with safeties coach Chris O’Leary and analyst Chad Bowden.

“Just learning how Notre Dame is different from other schools,” Shuler said of the message from the staff.

“Not to downplay other schools, but that Notre Dame has the full package in education, the sports, the family. They really touched on that pretty much the whole day.”

Shuler has early offers from the Irish, Penn State, Florida Kentucky and Nebraska among several others.

He expects to hear back from O’Leary and/or Bowden on Wednesday to hear about the next steps, but if they want him to return to South Bend, Shuler says he will do so “most definitely.”

Adding, “Sooner than later.”
