2023 West Bloomfield (Mich.) offensive lineman Amir Herring‍ made a summer stop at Notre Dame for camp in June and the four-star prospect was back on campus over the weekend to watch the Irish beat Purdue.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder left South Bend impressed with the staff and the game day environment.

"It went well,” Herring told ISD. “I loved the visit overall and the atmosphere was great. Coach (Jeff) Quinn and Coach (Trevor) Mendelson were both really great.

"It was my first time ever going to a Notre Dame game, so it was a great experience seeing the fans and the green out. The rich tradition of Notre Dame Stadium was really great."

Over the summer, Herring was about to work with Quinn at camp and it helped grow the relationship between the two.

On Saturday, Herring and Quinn were able to connect and it meant a lot to the Michigan native.

"Coach Quinn is one of the best offensive line coaches in college football,” explained Herring. “He was preaching to me and my family about what Notre Dame could do for me.

"We're going to keep a tight relationship through the process and there could be an offer coming down the line."

While Herring would love an offer from the Irish, he also has no problem waiting for Notre Dame to evaluate his junior film.

"He told me to stay patient,” stated Herring. “They're going to evaluate my junior season and hopefully, an offer can come out of that this year."

And if Notre Dame did offer, it would be a significant one for Herring.

"They would be very high on the list,” Herring said. “I love Notre Dame from an education standpoint and an athletic standpoint. It's the best of both worlds, in my opinion.

"They also have a really beautiful campus where I could see myself fitting in."

Herring will now look to get out and visit some of the other schools recruiting him as he looks to strengthen relationships and add few more offers over the next few months.

"I'm going to try to visit Michigan State, Penn State, Ole Miss, LSU, and Georgia Tech,” said Herring. “Those are the schools I want to get to this fall and I might fit in a couple of trips down South too."
