Jaden Greathouse‍ was excited coming into this weekend’s visit to Notre Dame and the 2023 Texas wide receiver sounded even more excited coming out of it.

“I loved it,” Greathouse told Irish Sports Daily following his first trip to South Bend. “I got to hang out with Peyton (Bowen) and Rodney (Gallagher) and all the recruits and we had a good time.

“Those are the guys that I'll potentially be spending the next three to four years of my life with and it's important to have great relationships with them. I have relationships with all of them prior to all this football stuff, so it's just good to be connected.”

The Westlake High School standout was also impressed with the campus.

“It was everything they said it would be,” he said. “It definitely exceeded expectations. It was great.”

The academic presentations from the University also made impressions.

“That was definitely a big emphasis for sure,” the 6-foot-3, 205-pounder said. “That's everything that they preached and they had ton of great slideshows.

“They definitely do it different over there. A degree from Notre Dame is top-notch. You don't get that type of experience anywhere else. It's definitely academic-focused. It's a small school with a great academic program.”

Greathouse and the other visiting recruits had opportunities to speak with dozens of Notre Dame alumni, including some current NFL players.

“It was really cool,” he said.

Greathouse also spent time with Irish wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey, offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and head coach Marcus Freeman.

He called the time he spent with Stuckey and Rees “great.”

“He's a great guy,” Greathouse said of Stuckey. “He's a great coach, super relatable, young. He's a great man for sure.

“I love Coach Rees. He's super competitive, especially in basketball. He's a great coach. He's a genius for sure and super laid-back, just great people for sure.”

The conversation with Freeman was another highlight.

“Coach Freeman's great,” Greathouse said. “He's definitely a people's man and he's genuine for sure. We got to have a private conversation and everything that he preaches held up to be true. So, I definitely enjoyed talking to him.”

Greathouse has already locked in his next trip to South Bend.

“I plan to take an official visit there on June 10th through 12th,” he said. “That'll be the next thing that I do.”

He doesn’t have any other unofficial visits set at the moment, but does plan on taking official visits to Oklahoma and South Carolina, although those dates haven’t been locked in yet.

The Irish certainly made a tremendous impression.

“I love Notre Dame. It's a great school with great people and great football too.”
