Less than a year after upsetting De La Salle in a playoff game last December, Folsom High School did it again, beating the Spartans 24-20 on Friday night.

The California showdown featured a pair of 2023 Notre Dame commits, wide receiver Rico Flores Jr.‍ with Folsom and tight end Cooper Flanagan‍ for De La Salle.

While he’ll be an offensive player in South Bend, Flanagan has been a force for the Spartan defense all season and was again on Friday, recording multiple sacks.

Meanwhile, Flores made some key receptions to help Folsom’s offense finally get going after a slow start.

In the end, it was Folsom’s Austin Mack scoring on a one-yard QB sneak on fourth down with 15 seconds left that provided the difference and helped Folsom complete the comeback.

LOVE, GRAY FACE OFF: Irish cornerback commit Christian Gray‍ and his DeSmet squad faced off against Irish running back target Jeremiyah Love‍ and his Christian Brothers team.

Love’s team came out on top with a 41-28 win. Love finished with 215 total yards – 119 rushing yards and another 96 receiving – and three touchdowns. He showed his explosive playmaking ability, catching a 72-yard pass for a score and running for a 67-yard score shortly after halftime.

2024 Notre Dame wide receiver target Jeremiah McClellan also pulled down a touchdown pass.

Even though his team came up short, Gray certainly demonstrated why he’s long been considered an elite prospect, including this impressive kickoff return.

EDWARDS SCORES AGAIN, DERBY WINS AGAIN: Not surprisingly, Hutchinson’s defense focused in on Irish running back/athlete commit Dylan Edwards‍ , but couldn’t completely shut him down. The future Irish weapon scored the go-ahead touchdown and the Derby defense clinched a 28-21 win on the game’s final play.

Edwards also had another highlight reel run, even if it was called back.

GREATHOUSE, WESTLAKE DEFEAT LAKE TRAVIS: Irish receiver commit Jaden Greathouse‍ caught a pair of touchdowns, including a 25-yarder with less than two minutes to play to seal a 35-20 victory. He finished with six receptions, including an 8-yard touchdown earlier in the third quarter.

DRAYK DOMINATES, ANDREAN WINS: Irish linebacker commit Drayk Bowen‍ had a monster game to lead Andrean to a 24-17 win over Hobart on Friday night.

The future Irish defender finished with 17 tackles while also rushing for over 200 yards and three touchdowns, including this one. Yikes!

SHULER SCORES TWICE, IRVINGTON COMES UP SHORT: Notre Dame safety commit Adon Shuler‍ continues to show he can get it done on both sides of the ball, taking advantage of his snaps as Wildcat quarterback for Irvington High School. He scored twice on Saturday, but Irvington fell to Seton Hall Prep 28-20.

ZINTER, CC TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS: Notre Dame linebacker commit Preston Zinter‍ flashed his athleticism on both sides of the ball, proving to be a force on defense and catching a 42-yard touchdown pass on offense as Central Catholic dispensed of St. John’s-Shrewsbury 34-16 on Saturday afternoon.

TOUGH NIGHT FOR LIMAR, LAKE STEVENS: West Linn stunned Lake Stevens and 2023 Notre Dame running back commit Jayden Limar‍ with a 45-6 blowout win on Friday night.

Limar didn’t register any rushing yards on six carries while picking up 44 yards on three catches, but was taken to the hospital with an undisclosed injury in the second quarter.

ELSEWHERE: Notre Dame defensive line commit Boubacar Traore‍ notched a pair of sacks as Catholic Memorial beat Algonquin Regional 46-0 on Friday night, a week after opening its season with a 47-7 victory.

Safety commit Benjamin Minich‍ caught a touchdown pass in Lakota West’s 38-0 blowout win over Hamilton.

2024 quarterback commit CJ Carr‍ had another super efficient game, completing 17 of 22 pass attempts for 239 yards and four touchdowns in about two quarters of action as Saline beat Skyline 49-6 on Friday night.

2024 receiver commit Cam Williams‍ caught six passes for 98 yards in Glenbard South’s 47-6 victory over Bartlett on Friday night.

2024 tight end commit Jack Larsen‍ caught a touchdown pass in Charlotte Catholic’s come-from-behind 36-35 victory over Independence on Friday night.
