Cameron Lindsey started hearing from Notre Dame in earnest after Sept. 1st, when colleges could begin directly contacting prospects in the Class of 2024.

“They invited me to a game earlier in the year, but I think I had already set a game to be at or something like that, so I couldn't make it,” the Pennsylvania linebacker told Irish Sports Daily.

“But I was like, 'I'll definitely schedule another game if you have another in the near future.'”

Indeed, the Irish had another game on their schedule and the Aliquippa High School standout will be in South Bend on Saturday for Notre Dame’s primetime game against Clemson.

“They have a great history of just being usually a top program,” Lindsey said of the Irish. “I know it was a slow start this year, but it seems like they're starting to pick things back up a little bit. They always play some of the best of the best teams and they just come in the best against competition. They're always just a team I look out for to watch.”

Lindsey has early offers from schools like Penn State, Syracuse, West Virginia and Cincinnati among others.

“It's a blessing,” the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder said. “It's still crazy just thinking about it. I enjoy every second of this recruiting process because you only really get to go through it once and you can only pick one school.

“So, I'm just enjoying my time with everything and the new schools that come in, I just try to get to know more about them and just enjoying everything really.”

He’s looking forward to the trip to Notre Dame.

“Getting to know the campus,” he said of what he’s most excited about. “Before, I would only know through the TV and seeing the stadium. And just learning more about the school also, just the little things outside of football.”

He’s made stops at Penn State and Pitt for games this fall and could make it to West Virginia later this month.

College coaches have liked what they’ve seen on the field from Lindsey this fall.

“More recently, I've heard that they've just been liking my play and how physical I've been. I've been at the line of scrimmage making tackles and things like that. That's just from what I heard and just how versatile I am. I cover a lot of ground is what my coaches tell me.”
