Memorable Trip To Notre Dame For Pritchett Family
Lawson Pritchett and Marshall Pritchett have been coming to Notre Dame games for years, but the Irish’s primetime matchup against Clemson last week was different.
The sons of former Irish star linebacker Wes Pritchett were in town from Georgia for the first time as recruits.
Lawson is a 2024 safety with offers from schools like Air Force and Army.
“I've been going to Notre Dame game since I was a little kid and that was the best environment I have ever seen there,” Lawson told ISD afterward. “I was expecting to see a lot of orange just because I know they travel well, but the stadium was rocking and it was awesome. It was a great experience.”
Marshall is a 2025 tight end who has early offers from Boston College and Vanderbilt.
“It was awesome,” said Marshall. “Obviously, it was a really good environment. It was a super, super good game. We got to rush the field. All around, it was a really cool experience.
“It's just kind of surreal because my whole life obviously, I've been going as a fan. I've always been a fan of Notre Dame and this was the first time we were able to go as recruits. To have my little brother there, my older brother and my dad, it was super cool. It was a surreal moment.”
The Rabun Gap Nacoochee School standouts had the chance to speak with Irish analyst Dre Brown before the game.
“He was asking me about recovering and everything and how I'm doing with ACL,” Lawson said of the injury he’s been coming back from since the summer. “He was basically asking us questions and talking about what they were going to do that night and how they were going to play physical. And his guys went out and did it.”
Marshall has been in touch with tight ends coach Gerad Parker and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees since camping in South Bend this summer.
“When I camped there, they really liked the way I moved, the way I ran routes,” the 6-foot-5, 205-pound Marshall said. “Obviously, they wanted me to gain a little bit of weight as they're looking at me as a tight end. As a young kid, they said that they weren't worried as much about that as they care more about the frame than anything because they know when I get to college, they'll be able to put weight on me.
“They just talked about trying to get my 40 down a little bit. I didn't run the best 40 at the camp. They were like, 'We have serious interest in you. This can happen. We're going to stay in touch.' I got to talk to Al Golden a little bit after that, I kind of got to talk to their whole staff, got a tour. Being able to do that in the summer was awesome and being able to come up on a commit weekend and still be able to talk to some coaches was great.”
The brothers hope to return to South Bend in the future for other events or another camp.
They’re not hiding the fact that their family’s history with the Irish would play a role in their decisions if they were offered.
“I would definitely say it gives them an edge because I have been a fan for them since I was however old I started,” said Lawson. “It would be hard for me to switch up on that if I had the opportunity to continue my dad's legacy there and everything. It would be a whole family collective advantage.
“That would mean everything,” Marshall said. “As a kid, I've always dreamed of that, being a fan. I've always seen myself playing on that field, so to get an offer from them would mean a lot.”
