CBS Names Three Notre Dame Football Players All-Americans
CBS Sports has named its 2022 All-American teams and three Notre Dame football players were recognized for their efforts this fall.
Tight end Michael Mayer was named to the first-team, which comes as no shock as the Kentucky native is the nation’s top player at the position. Mayer recorded 67 receptions for 809 yards and nine touchdowns in 12 games and has become Notre Dame’s most productive tight end in program history in just three seasons.
Sophomore left tackle Joe Alt also was also a first-team selection by CBS. The Minnesota native played and started in all 12 games this season for the Irish. When it comes to offensive linemen who took more than 300 snaps this season, Alt was No. 3 in the country per PFF in overall blocking.
Notre Dame senior defensive end Isaiah Foskey recorded 45 tackles and 11 sacks this fall and CBS has named him to its second-team. Foskey will leave as Notre Dame’s all-time sack leader as he topped Justin Tuck’s record against Boston College as the California native has now totaled 26.5 sacks in his career.
