2026 WR Chris Henry Jr. Talks Notre Dame Offer
While in Cincinnati on Friday, Marcus Freeman popped into Withrow High School and left a scholarship offer for 2026 wide receiver Chris Henry Jr.
“I was like, 'Wow! That's crazy!'” Henry Jr. said of his reaction to learning of the offer.
“Growing up watching Notre Dame on TV and now I've got an offer from them, I was just amazed.”
The Irish let Henry Jr., know they liked what they’ve seen on film from the 6-foot-5, 185-pounder youngster, who shares a name with his father who starred at the position playing at West Virginia and with the Cinncinati Bengals.
Henry Jr., has early positive impressions of the Irish as a team, school and coaching staff.
“I would really love to build a relationship with Notre Dame and I would like to get to know Coach Freeman and Coach (Chansi) Stuckey, the wide receivers coach,” he said. “I'd like to get to know them better.”
Just a freshman, Henry Jr., has already formed solid connections with some of the biggest names in the sport.
“I have a good relationship with Coach (Brian) Hartline at Ohio State and Coach Ryan Day,” he said. “Penn State, I really like Coach (James) Franklin. I had a good time over there. I have a good relationship with Marshall and West Virginia.”
Henry Jr., admitted that his familiarity with the program helps the Mountaineers.
“It kind of does give them an advantage because I already knew all of them really,” he said of his dad’s alma mater. “We already have relationship and I'm already familiar with the place.”
He’s already made several visits.
“I've been to Ohio State a couple times and I've been to Penn State and Miami,” he said. “I've been to Marshall and West Virginia.”
He’d like to get to South Bend in the future.
“Yes, of course,” he said.
Henry Jr., has idea of the biggest factors in his ultimate decision.
“Probably just the relationships and how it's going to benefit me after football and what's going to help me get to the next level.”
