After First Notre Dame Visit, 2025 LB Landon McComber Will Be Back
It’s safe to say Notre Dame impressed Landon McComber on Saturday.
“It was nice,” the 2025 Las Vegas linebacker told Irish Sports Daily. “I loved it. Every part of it, I loved.
“Being able to see the church, the Basilica, the campus itself was nice. When we went to the facility, everything had history behind it and like a meaning.”
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder announced his Notre Dame offer earlier this month. His offer sheet also includes schools like USC, Washington, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee and Georgia among several others.
He got to spend plenty of time with Irish head coach Marcus Freeman and Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden.
“We were able to sit down with them and talk about life beyond football and stuff like that,” McComber explained. “That really hit because it's true what he's been saying.
“Not everybody makes it to the NFL, but you're able to graduate and be a part of something other than football and to have a successful life.”
On the football side of things, McComber got a peek at Al Golden and the defensive staff.
“I was able to go into one of the meetings with the linebackers to see how they learn and react to new things, how they judge the o-line and the schemes that the other team runs,” said McComber.
McComber doesn’t have any other visits scheduled to any schools at the moment, but count on him being back in South Bend at some point.
“It's not going to be my last time visiting,” he said. “It's definitely more than what I expected. Being able to visit in person and see it in person is really special. They all treated me like family and they welcomed me. It's definitely not the last time I'll be talking to them.”
Asked if the Irish had moved up his list with the visit, McComber was direct.
“Yes. Most definitely.”
