2026 DE Ebenezer Ewetade Talks Notre Dame Offer, Visit
Ebenezer Ewetade is past the point of chasing offers, but he really wanted an offer from Notre Dame, which is what brought the 2026 North Carolina defensive end to South Bend for the Irish’s Junior Day last weekend.
And Ewetade landed that offer during the event from Irish defensive line coach Al Washington.
“Coach Washington brought me to his d-line room and then he just told me I had an offer,” the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “I was pretty excited. I've been waiting for an offer for a long time.
“I always thought Notre Dame was a very good school and I always wanted them to be one of the schools that offered me. Getting the offer was a huge blessing.”
Ewetade also has offers from schools like Duke, Wake Forest, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State and Michigan State among others.
He was impressed with Washington as a coach and a person.
“Coach Washington is a very good coach, very good guy,” Ewetade said. “My first impressions of him, he's pretty straightforward. He's never going to lie to me. He's going to tell me how it really is and that's what I really respect about him and the whole entire staff.
“All the staff members were pretty welcoming. They all took time out of their day to come say hello to me and I really respect that.”
Ewetade was also able to learn about Notre Dame as a program and University during his first trip to campus.
“How they operate, how they get academics down, how they help you with your academics when you get there,” he said of what he learned. “It's a long-term investment for even after you're done playing football, how they can still help you out and improve and get you better.
“The campus was pretty cool. I got to see some really cool monuments. Had a chance to see the Play Like A Champion Today Sign, Touchdown Jesus. Of course, I got to see the Dome. That was pretty good.”
Ewetade got a feel for some of the other visitors, including fellow North Carolina standouts like Thomas Davis Jr. and Connor Salmin.
“They were all pretty chill too,” he said. “They're recruiting elite guys. I saw some people from my state too who are really, really good football players.”
Ewetade will continue building relationships with the people in South Bend and will likely return for spring practice in a couple months.
