2024 S Jaiden Spearman Talks Notre Dame Stop, Next Steps
Jaiden Spearman has several major offers already, but the 2024 North Carolina safety clearly has serious interest in Notre Dame, which is why he was in South Bend on Friday.
“Everything went good,” Spearman told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “I talked to all the coaches and saw the facilities. It was really nice.
The William Amos Hough High School standout had the chance to speak with Irish safeties coach Chris O’Leary.
“He just told me he liked my size,” the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder said of O’Leary. “I found out he had a baby the day before I came. He talked to me and then he had to leave and go back to the hospital.”
Spearman also spoke with Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden.
“He was just telling me how I would fit into his scheme and where he sees me playing,” he said of Golden. “He sees me as a strong safety in space.
“I really like that. I find that very good to hear.”
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman hit on many of the same topics.
“He just told me how he liked my size and wants me to come camp and then told me where he wants me on his defense,” Spearman recalled.
Spearman currently has offers from schools like Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Duke, Florida, Arizona, Baylor and Louisville among several others.
The Irish have shown some serious interest.
“They're actually coming to see me for my spring practice in the next two weeks,” said Spearman, who added there’s a good chance he returns to South Bend for a camp in June.
He’s excited to show move around in front of the coaches in person and show them his agility, athleticism and footwork.
“It would mean a lot to me,” he said of a potential Irish offer. “I have family around Notre Dame, so my family could come up and watch my games. It's a very good campus. It's a very good school and I would really love to see what they're about.
He also made recent trips to Florida, North Carolina and Louisville with Tennessee coming next.
“I'm just looking for someplace that will develop me as a player and then as a student and as a working person and some place where I'm wanted and valued.”
