When Davion Dixon‍ was offered by Notre Dame back in February, the 2025 Florida defensive lineman called it a dream.

Sometimes, dreams come true.

On Friday night, Dixon announced his commitment to the Irish.

“I was about to cry,” the 6-foot-2, 310-pounder said. “It felt amazing.”

The Irish coaches were fired up as well.

“They were happy, celebrated with me, hugging me,” Dixon said. “They're like a family and a brotherhood over there.”

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and defensive line coach Al Washington made huge impressions on Dixon, who chose the Irish over offers from schools like Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Penn State, Michigan State and Nebraska among several others.

“It was just felt like home for me and Coach Washington and Coach Freeman helped me understand what's more important than football,” Dixon said. “Notre Dame is basically like an Ivy League school with the academics there. It's not just for football. It goes for the long run too.

“When you have Notre Dame on your diploma, it's going to help you for your future if football don't work out.”

Dixon, the Irish’s first commitment in the Class of 2025, didn’t see any point in waiting any longer.

“It felt like home and I just wanted to commit on the spot,” he said. “It feels good. I don't have to worry about picking my college anymore. I have Notre Dame now.”

The Irish expect him to play nose guard or three-technique and what should Irish fans expect from him?

“They should expect a lot of sacks, that's for sure.”
