That’s a quote from Moby Dick, which is a novel written by Herman Melville from 1851. 170 years later and it somehow fits with college football recruiting.

Every college football program has a big board with their top targets on it. That board starts out small, continues to grow, and then eventually shrinks down as more information is gathered and players drop off of it.

No one lands every recruit they want to.
