Teddy Rezac‍ arrived in South Bend on Sunday night with high expectations, which were met and then some.

“It went really well,” the 2024 Nebraska linebacker told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was smooth. It was a really fun trip.”

After arriving in town, the Westside High School standout had dinner with Irish defensive graduate assistant Max Bullough and some staffers.

Rezac, who just received his offer from Notre Dame last week, had breakfast on Monday morning before getting a full look at Notre Dame.

“I woke up, had breakfast, a little campus tour, got some academic meetings, got to go get lunch, take photos, meet coaches, meetings, check out the facilities; indoor and weight room,” the 6-foot-4, 198-pounder explained.

“Then, I ended off talking to Coach (Marcus) Freeman.”

The Omaha native was impressed with what he saw.

“It was a really pretty campus,” he said. “The feeling of small, but like one community, one place.”

And even more impressed with what he heard during the academic meetings.

“What stood out was how a Notre Dame degree will set you up for life,” he said.

Rezac was told the power of a degree from Notre Dame versus that of some other college football powers.

“My resume will go to the top when they see a prestigious university like Notre Dame,” he said. “It was just cool to how the people there preached like how important a Notre Dame degree was.”

When Rezac reconnected with Bullough for a meeting on Monday, the former linebacker was ready.

“That was just straight football,” Rezac explained. “He said I got to learn about the academics and the university, he said he just wanted his to be about football. We went through some stuff. I was actually sweating in the meeting.

“We were doing some live stuff. It was pretty fun seeing how he teaches his linebackers. It was cool to experience it and be hands-on.”

Bullough explained where the Irish see Rezac fitting in their scheme.

“Right now, they think I'd be at the Rover position, a lengthy dude who can play on the end of the line of scrimmage,” he said. “But eventually, they think if I can grow into my frame and put on weight, I can play virtually wherever in the defense.

“That excites me. Playing in space is fun, Rover position. But if I grow into my body and am able to put on weight, I think it would be good to try out playing in the middle. See what that's like.”

Rezac wrapped up his visit meeting with Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden, who hit on all aspects of University, and Freeman, who stressed the power of the Notre Dame degree as well as the football and culture within the program.

Rezac plans on continuing to build relationships with the staff in South Bend and said he doesn’t yet have any firm announcement timeline.

“Whenever it feels right, it's going to happen.”
