2025 LB JJ Shelton Talks "Unreal" Notre Dame Offer

Jayden Shelton‍ was fired up to find out he’d landed an offer from Notre Dame earlier this month.

“It was just unreal when I got it,” the 2025 Texas linebacker says. “I know how big of a school it is, and I just know that it's up there with colleges.”

The South Oak Cliff High School standout hadn’t had much contact with the Irish coaching staff prior to the visit, but is hoping to get to South Bend for a visit soon.

“I plan on visiting in the summer,” the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder says. “I’d like to see the campus, things like that.”

Shelton’s offer sheet also includes schools like LSU, TCU, Tennessee, USC, Washington and Michigan among several others.

“I believe that they like my speed and my ability to get off the blockers,” he says of college scouts.

The LSU offer was a big offer for Shelton.

“LSU was my dream,” he says. “It's just the players that they produce and like how they do it at that school. They're just a very dominant powerhouse school.”

Still, he’s working his way through the process and while he’d like to get on the field as soon as possible, he isn’t going to rush the process.

“A school where I'm going to get playing time,” he says of what he’s looking for in a college. “A school where I'm going to play and not going to waste my talent on the bench.

“I’m just looking for somewhere I could play, but I'll understand if I can sit one year, but I'll just look for somewhere I could play.”
