2024 Notre Dame LB Target Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa Leaving Decision In God's Hands
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa has heard all of the pitches, visited all of the schools and talked things over countless times with his support circle.
Now, the 2024 California linebacker will take the next week to get away and pray about his decision during a church youth camp.
Irish Sports Daily caught up with the St. John Bosco High School star prior to departing for the mountains to get his thoughts heading into next Sunday’s announcement.
“It has been tough,” said Viliamu-Asa, who narrowed his choices to Notre Dame, USC and Ohio State a few months back.
“I kind of anticipated it, but I have a good idea of what I want to do.”
Viliamu-Asa, who took official visits to all three schools last month, confirmed that he has one school out front heading into the last week.
Still, he’ll take this week to confirm things internally.
“Just praying, making sure it's the right thing that God wants me to do and that it's the right decision for me and my family,” he said.
“I'm just thinking about everything, not making an emotional decision, but weighing everything in and making the right choice.”
Viliamu-Asa intentionally placed time between his officials and his final decision to avoid making a decision based on emotion.
“One of the things was giving it some time to let the smoke clear after the official visits, taking two or three weeks to really think about it,” he said. “Not weighing in anybody else's opinions except for me and my family and really just looking at what God wants me to do.”
Still, Viliamu-Asa remained in contact with coaches at each of his finalists.
The Irish have gone all out to show him why they believe he’d be such a great fit in South Bend and why he’s a player and a person they want in their program.
“I know how they feel about me,” Viliamu-Asa said. “Regardless of if it is Notre Dame or not, they're still going to love me and respect my decision and my relationship is still there. They've made it clear how bad they want me to be a part of what they've got going on and showed nothing but love.”
Prior to taking the official visits, Viliamu-Asa told ISD there was one school out front. After all the visits and all of the pitches, he told ISD that the same school has the lead for him as he heads to the mountains this week.
With Viliamu-Asa unplugged from the rest of the world for the next five days, the three finalists are now forced to do exactly what he’s doing, leave it in God’s hands.
