Notre Dame completed its 2024 wide receiver haul when Logan Saldate‍ publicly committed to the Irish on Friday afternoon.

After a decommitment from Isiah Canion at the start of the month, the Irish identified Saldate, made a move and closed, getting the California receiver to flip his commitment from Oregon State to them.

Prior to his announcement, the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder spoke with future teammates and fellow Notre Dame receiver commits Cam Williams and Micah Gilbert.

“We're all excited,” the Palma High School standout said. “I mean, iron sharpens iron, so I can only imagine right now. It's going to be crazy. I definitely think we're going to build something special.”

And part of that building process will involve Irish quarterback commit CJ Carr.

As for catching balls from one of the most highly-touted signal-callers in the country, Saldate chuckes.

“You can't ask for anything better, to be honest,” he says.

The Irish are bringing him in to add speed from the slot.

“They just need somebody to really get open and fit in in their offense, which I can definitely do,” he says.

“I know how to track the ball really well, catch it with my hands. My speed is definitely a big part. I'm not like crazy, crazy fast, but I'm a 10.8 in track and ran a 4.47 40. I'm just really athletic to be honest.”

In the end though, the decision was about more than football.

“It's huge, not only to me, but to my whole entire family,” Saldate says. “It's going to be my third Catholic school, which is really big for us. It's really just a dream and I know how many kids would freaking die to be in my shoes right now, so, yeah, I'm definitely taking it all in.”

Backing off his pledged to the Beavers wasn’t easy.

“It was definitely difficult, but at the same time it's Notre Dame,” he says. “I talked with my parents and from a parent's perspective, it's kind of a dream for their kid to go to Notre Dame. We also have to think about life after football. Say I go to the NFL for five to eight years, then I'm out, having a degree from Notre Dame, it's like unlimited connections. It really just sets up your later life.”

Saldate is glad to have the process behind him at this point.

“It definitely feels good. These past few weeks, ever since they got in contact with me, have been really stressful just because I was losing sleep on 'What am I going to tell Oregon State?’ It feels good to get it off my chest and just go out and play ball.”
