Christian Jones‍ isn’t likely to forget his first trip to Notre Dame anytime soon.

“It was good,” the 2025 Nebraska linebacker told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was a fun night.

“It was a beautiful campus. I've never been there before. When we first arrived, we went to the practice center. They had some really good food, I gained about five pounds there.”

Jones made the trip with his Westside High School teammate, good friend and 2024 Notre Dame linebacker commit Teddy Rezac‍.

The food left a memorable impression on both.

“They had everything you wanted,” Jones continued. “They had Make Your Own Pizza. The best part was the ice cream. They had a little ice cream shop with some people getting you some scoops of ice cream. They pretty much had any sweet you wanted. They pretty much had everything covered.”

Afterward, Jones and the other visitors headed over to the stadium to see the players walk in.

“That was pretty cool,” Jones said. “We went on the field, talked to Coach (Marcus) Freeman and saw the stadium. Then, we walked back to the practice center and waited for the game to start and we walked back to the stadium.”

Freeman offered Jones some quick words before the game.

“That he was glad I was there and just that we need to start getting me on campus more,” Jones said of the message from Freeman.

“I think me and Teddy might come back from the USC game, but we're not sure.”

Jones and the other recruits took note of all of the famous fans in attendance.

“We got to meet some pretty cool people,” he said. “It was packed with celebs, so it was fun.”

Jones had the opportunity to reconnect with Heisman winner Mark Ingram while some of the other recruits took pictures with Vince Vaughn. Also in attendance were Will Compton and Taylor Lewan from Barstool’s Bussin With The Boys as well as other professional athletes.

“It just shows that they have a very large network at their hands and it's just really cool seeing all of everyone just on the sidelines, just watching the game,” Jones said.

Despite the Irish’s last-second loss, the game left a positive impression on Jones.

“The game was probably one of the best college games I've been to just atmosphere-wise,” he said. “We were next to the student section. The student section was just ready to storm the field, but you know how that ended.

“They definitely proved that they're a Top 10 team and they did not look out matched or anything. And Their defense played well, holding Ohio State to 17 points, I mean, that's pretty good. The offense was looking pretty good too. It was a good game to see what they're really about in the competition, very competitive.”

Jones, who also has offers from schools like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and USC among several others, came into the visit with an open mind and left feeling good about Notre Dame.

“It was a really, really fun, electric night. I was very surprised about how much Notre Dame has to offer.”
