Top 2025 OL Target Owen Strebig Talks Latest Notre Dame Stop
Barely a month after his previous trip to Notre Dame, Owen Strebig was back in South Bend for the Irish’s game against USC on Saturday night.
“I had a great time,” the 2025 Wisconsin offensive lineman told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “The game was amazing. It was definitely one of the best games I've been to.”
Strebig was especially impressed with how the Irish continued to fight throughout their 48-20 victory over the Trojans.
“Just how Notre Dame kept going, no matter the score,” he said. “They kept the pressure on and they continued to fight until the very end.”
It was the second primetime Notre Dame game in as many months for Strebig, who was at the Ohio State game in September.
“The atmosphere was consistent from the Ohio State game to this game,” he said. “It was loud from start to finish. It was a crazy atmosphere. Getting to do the Victory March, that was crazy just to see all the fans there before the game.”
Strebig had another chance to speak with Notre Dame coaches like Marcus Freeman, Joe Rudolph and others.
“Just that they still think I'd be a really good fit,” he said of the pitch from the staff. “They just think Notre Dame is the right place for me.”
He also spoke with some of the other visiting recruits, including 2025 quarterback commit Deuce Knight and 2025 tight end target James Flanigan.
“Deuce Knight was telling me how he needs somebody to block for him,” said Strebig. “Me and James Flanigan got to spend some time together. It was good to meet him and just talk about how our seasons are going and why we're interested in Notre Dame.”
The opponent was one reason Strebig returned to Notre Dame so soon after his previous stop.
“I wanted to get back because two schools that I'm really interested in were playing each other,” he said. “It was a perfect chance to see both schools play.”
Strebig had the chance to catch up with USC head coach Lincoln Riley on the phone after the game.
“They obviously didn't have their best game,” Strebig said of the Trojans. “I was talking with Coach Riley. He just said it's now about learning from that game and bouncing back next week.”
Strebig will make his final trip of the fall out to USC next month.
“It would definitely be just to continue to grow the relationship with the coaches,” he said of the purpose of that visit. “It'll be my first time for my mom out at USC, so she's going to be able to see everything and meet everybody.”
While Strebig isn’t ready to say he has two finalists, the Irish and Trojans clearly have his attention.
“I wouldn't say I'm down to those two, but they're the schools at the top of my recruitment right now,” he said.
Strebig has no timetable for a final decision.
“I'm just going to take my time with it,” he said. “I want to make sure the decision I'm making is the decision I'm going to stick with.
As he continues to consider his options, Strebig’s feelings on Notre Dame have remained the same.
“I love Notre Dame. I love the staff.”
