Jake Sumner isn’t surprised by how quickly attention has come Jack Lange’s way.

“He's got the measurables that guys are looking for and he's got some athletic ability to back it up,” the head coach of Eureka High School says of the 2025 Missouri offensive lineman.

The 6-foot-8, 275-pounder recently added an offer from Notre Dame to go with offers from schools like Missouri, Michigan, Washington, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State and Illinois among several others.

“Obviously, he's got that natural size and strength about him and he's a great young man,” Sumner continues. “He's just a big ole, goofy dude. A lot of fun, but backs it up with hard work. In the weight room, he's pretty naturally gifted. He's pulling around 300 on the clean and then benching around 305 right now. He works hard.

“Not only does he have the measurables and skills and things it takes to be a great lineman, but he's got a pretty good work ethic to back it up. He's got that desire to improve and be great.”

Sumner says Lange has an extremely high ceiling and expects to see improvement in the years to come.

“I think he has all the tools to be great and he flashes some great things right now,” the coach says. “That's what everybody's loving about him. He locks onto blocks, he finishes well, he's got good bend, he's got good power in his hips, he's got great feet.

“Within all of those skills, just being more consistent in using all of those to dominate each play. That's one thing we've kind of checked in on, and he's getting better at it. Heck, he's only a first-year starter. This has only been his first season. He's only started 13 games at the varsity level, so he's going to only get better next year. He's got some great ones under his belt. That's the biggest thing, being consistent and using all of those gifts.”

Lange acknowledged the Irish offer being a big one for him, but it’s still early in the process.

“I think he's pretty wide open. He's got a lot of things on the table and he's just kind of sorting through them. But I know (Notre Dame is) a pretty historic program and they do a lot of great things for o-linemen up there. I know that's an interest to him.

“It'll be interesting to see how it sorts out and where things go for him. Honestly, I haven't had much indication of where he's leaning one way or another.”
