2025 Notre Dame OL Target Jack Lange Talks Offer He'd "Been Waiting On"
Jack Lange wasn’t stunned by the offer, but he was caught off guard by the timing of it.
The 2025 Missouri offensive lineman was driving home from practice last month, when he had got a call from Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.
“Coach Rudolph said he’d sat down and watched my film and he evaluated me as a person at the game day and thought that I was a good fit and so he offered me,” Lange recalls. “It was exciting, means a lot and I'm excited for the future.
“I was pumped. I've been waiting for this one for a while now. I wasn't really sure it was going to come, but I kind of had a feeling in the back of my mind and I was super excited when it did come. It meant a lot. It was thrilling.”
The Eureka High School standout made a trip to South Bend in October for the Irish’s game against Pitt.
“I felt like I established a good connection,” he says. “I felt like I let my personality shine through a little bit. I was just cracking jokes and stuff. I felt I just had a good connection with Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach Rudolph and Justin Thurman shouted me out a little bit. I felt like it was going to come eventually.
“I didn't really think it was going to come right after the game day, but I thought it was going to come sooner rather than later.”
Lange’s offer sheet also includes schools like Missouri, Michigan, Michigan State, Washington, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State and Illinois among several others.
But the Irish offer is certainly a special one.
“I grew up watching Notre Dame,” he says. “I've watched ‘Rudy’ and I've watched all those movies and I've just grown up; just the history and legacy with the program, it's unlike anything else in college football. So it meant a lot and just to be held to that high of a standard from them. I was very, very excited.
Since the South Bend trip, Lange has made stops at Kansas, Missouri, Ole Miss and to Ann Arbor for Michigan’s game against Ohio State - “I couldn't really say no to that one,” he adds.
He’s planning to return to Notre Dame soon; either for a bowl practice in December or a Junior Day in January.
But he isn’t close to make a final decision just yet.
“I think I'm going to let this offseason pick up. I think there are schools out there that have not offered yet, but I think they will. I think I'm going to let this offseason just do its thing. I'm going to go to junior days and visit campuses so I can just get a full experience of what it's like at these colleges.
“Then, when summer rolls around, I'm going to start taking official visits to just get a really good feel for the colleges. I would prefer to commit sometime around the end of summer; the first week of August, or that last week of July. But if I'm not ready, then I'm going to commit before the first signing day.”
