2025 OL Owen Strebig Talks Top 11, Notre Dame & More
After trimming his list last week, Owen Strebig can move forward with his recruitment.
“I just kind of wanted to take an early first step towards the end of my recruitment,” the 2025 Wisconsin offensive lineman told Irish Sports Daily.
“The 11 schools I put on the list are schools that I can see myself playing at, getting developed that. That's really the main reason I decided to put it out.”
Notre Dame was included as one of those 11 schools along with Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Florida State, Iowa, USC and UCF.
“I can start to compare schools on my top list,” he continued. “Does this school have something this school doesn't? Or what's different about here than there? It's a good tool to start moving towards a final decision commitment.”
Strebig has already taken several visits, but part of his process now will include getting on the road again, although he currently has just one trip locked in.
“The only one for sure right now is Notre Dame on the 20th for Junior Day,” said Strebig.
Strebig made a pair of trips to South Bend for games this fall.
“I've had such great visits,” he said. “It's Notre Dame. It's tough to pass up the academic opportunity and then the football opportunity with just such a great staff. I'm so comfortable with Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach (Joe) Rudolph. They've been a huge role in my recruitment.”
He is looking forward to returning.
“I'm excited because I've gotten a lot closer with other recruits and commits in the '25 class,” he said. “I'm excited to hang out with them and continue to grow the relationship and start to feel more comfortable at Notre Dame.”
Two of those recruits are fellow offensive linemen Will Black and Matty Augustine. Black announced his commitment to the Irish last week while Augustine has Notre Dame on his short list as well.
“I talked to (Black) a few days before he announced it,” Strebig said. “He seems like a cool guy. He was just talking about how, hopefully me and Matty will come along too.”
But Strebig hasn’t outlined any sort of firm decision timetable.
“I just feel whenever I feel comfortable with committing, that's when I'll move towards it.”
