2025 Notre Dame RB Commit Justin Thurman Excited For Future
With National Signing Day for the Class of 2024 complete - or at least the early one complete - much of the focus will now shift to the Class of 2025.
For prospects like Justin Thurman who have made early commitments, it means they’re one step closer to the colleges of their choice.
“It's great,” said Thurman, a 2025 Florida running back, who committed to Notre Dame over the summer. “Being basically a year away from Signing Day is exciting.
“It gets more exciting each and every single day that we get closer to that. I'm just very excited to become part of the Notre Dame family and Fighting Irish.”
The Jesuit Prep standout paid attention to the pageantry of Signing Day last week.
“I've looked at many of the guys' signing videos and just all the stuff that they're putting out for Signing Day and it's all good stuff, all great stuff,” he said. “I'm very happy for them.”
Thurman has remained in consistent contact with Irish running backs coach Deland McCullough all season long.
“His message is is basically, 'Just keep doing what you're doing. Keep working hard just playing ball, stay healthy,'” Thurman explained.
“They're excited for me to get up there and become part of the team.”
The 6-foot, 185-pound Thurman was pleased with his junior season at Jesuit this fall.
“I think I did well running the ball, being able to showcase my ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, block and also having roles in special teams; kickoff, kickoff return, punt, punt return,” he said.
“Being able just to utilize my versatile skillset to the most on the field.”
Thurman was excited to see the Irish’s 2025 recruiting class add offensive lineman Will Black last week.
“I think he's a great addition to the team,” said Thurman. “He's a great guy, great friend and I believe that he'll bring lot to the table, especially for linemen.
“Notre Dame is known for its linemen and I feel like he'll be one of those linemen who will be a great player and also a great friend to have as well.”
Thurman is looking forward to returning to South Bend for next month’s Junior Day.
“Just getting to know the guys more, being able to spend more time with the coaches and the coaching staff and basically just get more of a feel for the environment,” he said. “I know they're going to have some activities for us, so that's going to be good for team building for the 2025 class. Just getting to know Notre Dame more and just seeing where we're going to be at for the next three or four years.”
