Notre Dame hosted several recruits this weekend, including a large group of prospects from Georgia who came with Derrick Tatum, trainer of Elite Talent Football Academy.

Among the prospects Tatum brought were a pair of underclassman defensive backs with BCS offers; 2019 cornerback Jalen Alexander and 2020 corner T Lee.

“It was great,” the 6-foot, 155-pound Alexander said of the stop at South Bend. “We liked the facility and tour we had. It was great. It was a good visit.

“We liked their practice fields, all of that looked good, and their locker room was great.”

Alexander, who plays at powerhouse Grayson High School and has an early offer from Auburn, enjoyed watching the Irish practice.

“It was fast-paced, high-intensity,” he said. “Everything was moving quick and they were on top of it.

“After we left the field after practice, we went into the athletic complex and saw the weight room and the locker room and all of that.”

The group had a chance to speak with some of the Notre Dame staff members while in town.

“The guys who were with me talked with our position coaches and the coaches who recruit in our area,” Alexander said. “They were good coaches, they seemed like good guys. We talked a lot and asked a lot of questions. They seemed cool.”

Alexander’s first impression was certainly a positive one.

“Notre Dame is a great school and I would love to learn more about it as I continue my recruiting process,” he said.

“The most important thing for me is what the school can offer me when I’m done playing football. What does the school have more after that, that’s the most important thing for me.”

Despite being just a freshman, Lee already has offers from UCLA, Central Florida and UNC-Charlotte.

Lee also left with a positive feeling about Notre Dame.

“I could see myself going there,” the 5-foot-11, 165-pounder from Chattahoochee High School said. “It was a real nice place. My older cousin, Kevin Stepherson, he goes there. It’d be cool. I like it a lot.

“He told me it’s a great school with a great degree there and he said it would be a great place to play.”

He also enjoyed seeing the Irish practice.

“They were moving fast,” Lee said. “There wasn’t a lot of waiting around going on. They ran a play and as soon as it was over, another play was starting back up.

“Then, we went into the facility and walked around to see the weight room and different things they had. It was real nice. I liked the look of the campus. It’s like an old, but modern look. It was real cool how that was set up.”

He also had a chance to speak with some members of the Irish staff.

“I talked with Coach Todd (Lyght), the DB coach,” said Lee. “The coaches were real nice, real welcoming. It was a great experience talking to them.”

Lee too said he’d “love to get back up” to Notre Dame.
