2025 WR Jerome Bettis Jr. Remains High On Notre Dame
Jerome Bettis Jr., was back in South Bend again last month.
And once again, the 2025 Georgia receiver thoroughly enjoyed himself.
“It was good,” Bettis Jr., told Irish Sports Daily. “It was real good.
“For the most part, it was a bit of the same, but just got to meet some new coaches, which was really big for me, getting to see them, sit down with them and talk. That was the main thing.”
The Woodward Academy standout appreciated the opportunity to visit with new Irish receivers coach Mike Brown.
“He's great,” Bettis Jr., said of Brown. “I love him. I got to meet him. He's a real cool dude, real good guy. He definitely knows what he's talking about. He's a real great coach and I can see how he can develop players. I see I can fit into that.”
He also welcomed the chance to spend time with new offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.
“Real smart,” Bettis Jr., said of Denbrock. “He understands the game to a T. I can tell that the offense next year is going to be special.”
He also had the chance to spend time with several of the current Notre Dame commits.
“Of course, I got to see Deuce (Knight), got to talk to him for a little bit,” he said. “Every time I get to see Deuce, it's always fun. We always hang out, have a great time. It was cool to speak with him.
“Obviously, I got to see Ethan Long while he was down there. We're real close, so I got to hang out with him and CJ May as well.”
And he was able to meet 2025 New Jersey wide receiver Elijah Burress for the first time.
“We hit it off instantly,” Bettis Jr., said. “Elijah is real cool. That's my guy. We still talk. He's real cool. I'm glad I got to meet him. I hope we can continue our relationship if that's through Notre Dame or somewhere else, just us continuing to be friends with our fathers and all that. It was real cool. I'm glad I got to meet him.”
Their fathers - Jerome Bettis and Plaxico Burress - were stars for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“They played on the same team back in the day, so they know each other pretty well,” Bettis Jr., said.
Bettis Jr. is glad he’s had the chance to get to know so many current - and possibly future - Notre Dame commits.
“I feel like if that's the decision that I choose to make, then knowing who I'm going to be there with for the next three to four years is super important,” he said. “Making sure that I build those relationships now so that by the time I do potentially get there, we'll already be real close.”
Bettis Jr., had several schools visit Woodward Academy last month, including Notre Dame, Florida, Cal and SMU among others.
He’s spending this weekend in College Station, visiting Texas A&M, but doesn’t have any other visits locked in yet.
He also doesn’t have a firm timeline for a final decision, although he does have some idea.
Probably sometime later in the summer, I'd say. I just want to see some other schools just to see how it's different from Notre Dame because I've been there so many times. I'll start to narrow it down in the summer and then make a decision sometime around then.
