2025 DE Jameil Hamm Planning To Camp At Notre Dame
After taking home Defensive MVP Honors from the National Combine at San Antonio in January, Jameil Hamm is working to garner more attention.
The 2025 Ohio defensive end has double-digit offers from schools like Akron, Temple, Bowling Green, Miami-Ohio and Toledo among others while also receiving interest from some Power-5 programs.
“I've been in contact with a lot of schools, just networking and building relationships,” the Glenville High School standout says. “It's been going good.”
Several college programs stopped by Glenville High School last month to check in on the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder.
“It's always good to be able to talk to those schools, build relationships with the coaches, let them get to see my face,” Hamm says. “A lot of them came, then they came back. A lot of schools I was seeing more than once, so that's always good. Overall, it was good.
“It's definitely motivation. It makes me go harder, seeing that it's possible with those schools coming up, talking to us, talking to me. It makes me go harder for sure, in the weight room, on the field, offseason.”
Hamm made stops at Kent State, Akron and Toledo this winter.
“I went to a few junior days,” he says. “There were a lot more I wanted to go to, but we couldn't make it because of the weather. We were going to go to a lot more, West Virginia and Ohio State, but the snow.”
He enjoyed the trips he did make.
“They were good,” he says. “I got to watch some basketball, got to tour the facilities. Again, build relationships with the coaches. That's always the best part, being able to talk to those coaches and ask questions and learn about not just the football part of the school, but the education too.”
He’s looking forward to hitting the road again when the dead period is lifted and mentioned Notre Dame as a potential spot along with Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, West Virginia and Rutgers.
“As many as I can,” he says. “Hey, if I can get to all of them, I will.”
Hamm is planning to camp at Notre Dame this summer.
“I would just look for it all; the football side, the education side, campus, new relationships with the coaches, maybe get to meet a couple of the players,” he says.
Hamm knows what will be most important to him when it comes time to pick a school.
“Building relationships with not just my position coach, but the head coach too,” he says. “If I have something going on that's not pertaining to football or school, just being able to open up to my coaches and talk to them. I think that's a big thing with me.
“I know football-wise, anywhere I go that I'll be OK on that, but I want to be able to have a male figure I know I can sit down and talk to if I'm ever going through anything or just have somebody there on the side of me at all times.”
