2025 LB Grant Beerman Ready To Return To Notre Dame
After camping last summer and visiting for the home opener last fall, Grant Beerman is excited to be returning to Notre Dame on Thursday for the Irish’s first practice of the spring.
“Coach (Marcus) Freeman came into school one of the days,” the 2025 Ohio linebacker from Lakota West High School says.
“I talked to him shortly and then he told my coach that he wanted to get me up there for spring ball. So I definitely made that priority to come up. When the head coach comes in, it's always awesome to talk to him.”
Beerman will be making the trip with his teammate, 2026 athlete Cam Thomas.
“When you look at all my former teammates that have gone to Notre Dame, I think there's a reason why with Ben Minich and then Taebron (Bennie-Powell),” Beerman says. “I think there's kind of a correlation there; Lakota West, going to Notre Dame, it just seems to have some good history and good connections. Maybe I could follow in those footsteps, it's always worth trying it.”
Beerman is looking forward to seeing Notre Dame get to work behind the scenes.
“Being able to experience a spring practice will definitely be a cool experience at Notre Dame,” he says. “Just seeing how the team bonds and the energy there, I think that's a big factor in what makes the team good and what you want to play for.
“Being able to see that and know I have the chance maybe to compete there, that would definitely be something interesting what I'm looking for.”
The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder has a lengthy list of scholarship offers that includes schools like Cincinnati, Michigan State, Boston College, Kentucky, Duke, Minnesota, Pitt, Purdue, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Virginia among several others.
Beerman will be busy over the next few weeks.
“It's really my last go-around,” he says. “I'm hitting some places on the way to Panama City for spring break. I'm hitting up Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt, which are on the way.
“I'm also seeing some different places I haven't been to before, such as Georgia Tech, Wisconsin. I'm hitting up Texas A&M. I'm also hitting up Pitt after Notre Dame with my teammate Cam Thomas.”
Having seen the process that led Bennie-Powell and Minich to South Bend, Beerman understands things could take a little longer with the Irish.
“With Ben and Taebron, they had to end up going to camp to get their offer,” Beerman says. “I think I'm kind of on that plan right now. They had told me that as well, that I'm kind of following in their footsteps; come out for spring practice, come out for a camp and then hopefully I would lead up to the following steps that Taebron and Ben took.”
Beerman is planning to have a final decision before the start of his senior season, but he won’t rush it at the expense of Notre Dame
”The ideal plan is to commit before my senior season and hopefully it's after official visits in June, but I think Notre Dame really plays a part in that. If I have interest in Notre Dame and there's a connection there and they really have interest in me and hopefully offer me, then it could be delayed. Knowing it was a bit slower for Ben, he committed a bit later.”
