2026 ATH Matt Sieg Fired Up For Notre Dame Visit

Matt Sieg‍ didn’t need much advanced notice to get up to South Bend for Notre Dame’s first practice of the spring on Thursday.

“Last week, Coach (Nick) Sebastian followed me on Twitter and hit up my head coach,” the 2026 Pennsylvania athlete says. “They said they wanted to have me up.

“Me and the family, we have always been big Notre Dame fans. We love Notre Dame. We've been up there a few times just to check it out, so immediately, we said, 'Yeah, we'll be up.'”

The 6-foot, 180-pound Sieg played in a baseball tournament on Notre Dame’s campus last year and has made stops when passing through on road trips before, but Thursday will be his first visit as a football prospect.

“I'm super excited,” he says. “Obviously, the campus is unbelievable. It's beautiful. I'm just excited to be up there and be able to say I was at Notre Dame.

“I just want to see how the coaches coach the players and the atmosphere around the team. Obviously, it's still early in spring ball, so I'm not going to be able to tell too much how the team's going to be looking and everything. I'm just looking to see how the coaches coach and all the relationships and stuff like that.”

It’s early, but Sieg already has offers from schools like Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia, Nebraska and as of Tuesday, Wisconsin.

“It's amazing to be able to know you have a chance to play in college and that all you have left to to do is just continue to work on your craft and continue to get better,” he says. “It takes a little bit of stress out of the game.

“You just know you can just go out and have fun, put in the work, do what's needed, but at the end of the day you have a chance to play at the next level.”

Syracuse offered Sieg as a quarterback, but the rest have been at slot receiver or safety. He says he doesn’t have a preference.

“I really just love playing football,” he says. “I'll play wherever the team would need me.”

Later this month, he’ll make stops at Penn State and Pittsburgh.

He’s thought about the idea of playing both baseball and football in college, but isn’t yet sure.

He does have a good idea of what will be most important to him when it comes time to choose a school.

“Being able to get a good education and knowing the coaches are going to have my back. They're not just football, even if football doesn't work out, just being someone I can call down the road, have somebody there for me. It's bigger than football for me. Obviously, the dream is to get to the NFL, but at the end of the day, it's a 40-year plan, not a four-year plan.”
