Derek Meadows‍ made his way back to Notre Dame this weekend and the 2025 Las Vegas receiver target was once again impressed.

“It was awesome,” the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder said. “A great experience. I really liked everything about it. It was cool, just smooth.”

The Bishop Gorman standout was able to see the Irish’s spring practice.

“It was their first day of full pads, so I got to just witness some of the people I was training with at the Invasion Camp a year ago, like Micah (Gilbert) and Cam Williams,” he said. “It was awesome. I got to just meet with them again, talk to them again. After, we got to go eat and stuff with them and it was awesome. We ate pizza and wings. It was great. I had a fun time.”

Meadows earned an offer at that camp last summer and has been a top-of-the-board target for the Irish ever since. Seeing guys he competed with in college now lets him know how close he is.

“It's awesome,” he said. “It just hypes me up every time I see them doing their thing.

“Micah had a crazy practice. It was their first day of pads and they were actually going at it. He scored a touchdown and it made me happy because it just shows that I could do this one day too and it just makes me very hyped.”

Meadows had the opportunity to meet several current Notre Dame commits while he was in town, including quarterback Deuce Knight, receiver Jerome Bettis Jr., and offensive lineman Owen Strebig.

“I really liked them,” he said. “I could see myself around him one day.”

It was his first time meeting Knight in person.

“He was awesome,” Meadows said. “He's hyped. He's hyped. That's what I like about him. He loves to hype people up. He's a funny guy. He'll make you laugh. Just a good dude in general.

“It's awesome because I know I can build a relationship with him fast. He's easy to get to know. He's just a good dude and you've got to surround yourself around good dudes. That's how I feel.”

He feels the same way about the Irish coaching staff.

“I love them,” he said. “Each and every one of them, they're all cool. They're just super friendly. They're a good group of dudes to be surrounded by.

Meadows has a few more unofficial visits coming up.

“This week, I'm going to Alabama and Georgia and then the weekend after that I'm going to Tennessee and then LSU,” he said.

Meadows already has an official visit to Notre Dame locked in for June.

“I can't wait,” he said. “It's going to be fun.”

He also has an official to South Carolina set and will likely add more, but said, “as far as right now it's just Notre Dame and South Carolina.”

Meadows said he expects to make a commitment in September.
