Notre Dame DE Commit Chris Burgess Will Be on Campus Multiple Times in June
2025 Notre Dame defensive end commit Chris Burgess made his way to Canton last week to participate in the Under Armour Camp series.
The 6-foot-4, 241-pounder had a strong showing, but also saw areas of his game he can work on before his senior season.
“I got a lot of work and a lot of stuff I need to work on,” Burgess stated. “Finishing and being more aggressive.”
Outside of his play, Burgess was impressive in how he moved around the camp. The Simeon (Ill.) star made sure to be the first one in line during drill work while also showing a high level of leadership by encouraging other campers or showing them the ropes.
Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington had a message for Burgess heading into the camp and the four-star prospect took it to heart.
“Just to dominate,” Burgess said of Washington’s message. “He gave me the message to dominate and do what I need to do. I was super locked in trying to get better.”
Burgess projects as a strongside end, but he wanted to make sure to show his full skillset at the camp. The Chicago native also took reps at rush end and defensive tackle during one-on-ones.
“I’m looking at everything,” explained Burgess. “I can play anything. I just like to play. Put me somewhere and I can do it. I stood up, went to 3-tech and I was trying to go to nose (guard) too.”
Despite his commitment to Notre Dame in January, Burgess hasn’t slowed down his workouts this offseason. The goal is to become more explosive and relentless, which is what he has seen from a recruiting standpoint from Notre Dame.
“Coach Golden and Coach Washington stopped by and the QB coach stopped to see us practice,” Burgess explained. “It’s like there’s a buzz like a celebrity is there. They see a lot of love every time they come up and they come up a lot.
“I’m their first stop. I love it. It feels like they are recruiting me the most even though I’m committed. They are recruiting me hard.”
Burgess visited South Bend a few times this spring, including for the Blue-Gold Game and noticed that the Irish seemed bigger.
“They’re physical and big,” stated Burgess. “That’s all I noticed and that’s what I liked.”
As for his summer schedule, Burgess plans to be at every Notre Dame official visit weekend to help finish the class on the right note.
“It’s super exciting,” said Burgess. “ I’m going to go on every OV. I’m excited to link up with the guys. I’m not going to visit other schools - just Notre Dame.”
