Notre Dame Baseball Assistant Logan Robbins Will Not Return in 2025
Notre Dame baseball head coach Shawn Stiffler has made a change as assistant coach Logan Robbins will not return to the program following the 2024 season.
It’s a somewhat surprising move as Robbins was the hitting coach and had a significant hand in fielding for the Irish. Notre Dame broke the school record for home runs (87) and led the nation in fielding percentage at .985 in 2024 despite the season's 27-25, 9-21 finish.
Robbins also had a significant presence on the recruiting trail for the Irish. Notre Dame’s first high school recruiting class under Stiffler will arrive this summer and was ranked No. 30 by Perfect Game, which was the highest-rated class in program history. The 2025 class is currently ranked No. 43.
Before Notre Dame, Robbins spent seven seasons at Old Dominion, where he worked his way from volunteer coach to assistant. In 2021, Old Dominion was electric on offense as the Monarchs set program records for single-game and single-season home runs. Old Dominion finished second in Conference USA in 2021 with .301 batting average and second in the nation with 105 home runs.
Old Dominion followed it up in 2022 with another impressive season at the plate as the Monarchs finished 41-17 and hit a program-record 128 home runs. The Monarchs hit an impressive 2.21 home runs per game, which finished No. 2 in the country.
Notre Dame will now look to find momentum in the portal in the next few months as the Irish need to replace a significant chunk of their core from 2024. David Glancy, Tito Flores, Simon Baumgardt and Matt Bedford won’t be in the blue and gold next year, so Stiffler’s hire will be crucial to the program's present and future.
