Derek Meadows‍ has been a true top target for Notre Dame for over a year now.

This weekend, the Irish were able to host the big-time 2025 Nevada receiver for his official visit.

“It went good,” Meadows told Irish Sports Daily on Sunday morning. “It was a great experience, never disappoints. I had a great time spending time with the coaches and the players. It was a fun time.

“We went around campus, me and some of the recruits got to go on a bike ride. We got to see more campus, the dorms this time. It was really fun.”

The Bishop Gorman star also enjoyed his meetings with the coaching staff.

“They were good,” he said. “I really enjoyed talking to Coach (Marcus) Freeman and I really enjoyed talking to Mike Brown, the receivers coach. I just had a great, great time with the coaches.”

Freeman has made a major impression on Meadows from the start and continued to do so this weekend.

“He's a very humble person,” Meadows said of Freeman. “He's very unique. He has his own swagger. That's what I love about him.”

Brown’s message was a simple one, but one that seemed to hit home with Meadows.

“His message to me was that I'm a good fit for the school,” Meadows said of Brown. “Not everybody's a fit, but I'm a fit for Notre Dame.”

The Irish’s decision to go all-in on Meadows so early certainly has not been lost on him.

“It means a lot,” he said. “It just shows that they've always been there. It shows that they really are interested in me and that plays a huge factor in me looking for a school that I could see myself at for four years. That definitely plays a huge role.”

He’s already taken officials to Michigan and Georgia - which he enjoyed - and has officials to LSU and Alabama coming this week. He’ll make his decision in a couple months.

“Somewhere September, I don't know exactly what day, but sometime in September,” he said.

As for the most important factors in his recruitment, Meadows pointed to one above the rest.

”My development, where I'm going to get developed best so I can play in the pros.”
