2026 WR Jordan Clay Expects To Be Back At Notre Dame

Jordan Clay‍ hasn’t stayed in constant contact with Notre Dame this summer, but the 2026 Texas receiver has been in enough contact to know he wants to return to South Bend for another visit.

“Of course,” says Clay, who has family in the area and has made multiple trips to campus already.

“Now that I've been there, I really want to just see how the coaches are and how they are in the coaching aspect of things; even down to being in the meeting rooms with the receivers and the receiver coach and just getting to see a breakdown on how things are done at Notre Dame.”

The San Antonio native’s offer sheet currently includes schools like Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Tennessee and Nebraska among several others.

Clay was at the Irish’s game against Pitt last fall and that made a major impact on how he sees the Irish.

“Really the atmosphere.” he says of what stood out. “The atmosphere is unlike any atmosphere I've seen before.

“There were 80-plus thousand people there and the stadium was rocking. It was definitely a shocker. When I was there, I wasn't expecting it to be as loud as it was and how intact everybody was to the game. I'm really looking forward to that.”

He’ll get to see Notre Dame when it opens up against Texas A&M in College Station. While he’ll be a guest of the Aggies, he’ll be keeping a close eye on the Irish as well.

“Of course,” he says. “Just seeing how the receivers are, how pass-heavy the offense is, really just really just paying attention to the receivers, learning the offense, seeing how the offense works and how they do things and get things done.”

Clay has high expectations for his team’s season this year.

“I think we're going to do pretty good,” he says. “We've got a good chance to win District. We've got a few tough non-district games. We're getting prepared for that. Our first game's August 31st against New Braunfels, so we're getting prepared for that.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder believes he’s better than ever after working hard this offseason.

“My feet, my route-running, getting faster,” he says of where he’s improved. “We were running 40s and I'm going 4.49, so I'm making sure I'm getting my speed up there. Not only am I big target, now people have got to worry about my speed.

“Just working on my double-moves. I know I'm going to be experiencing a lot of triple-teams, double-teams, so being able to sell the double-move will buy me time to get open.”
