When Notre Dame was struggling with mistakes from the offense and special teams early on against Miami (OH), they needed the defense to bail them out. Once again, they got the job done.

After a muffed punt, they forced a turnover in the red zone. When the first three drives for the offense produced only one first down, they held Miami (OH) to three points on five drives despite being on the field for 15 minutes of possession compared to only 6:23 of possession for the Irish offense.
