Cameron Brickle‍ made his way out to South Bend for the first time for the Stanford game a couple weeks ago and the 2026 Pennsylvania defensive lineman left impressed.

“It was good,” Brickle told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was my first time being out there. I didn't know that on the other side of the stadium was Touchdown Jesus. I didn't know that.

“Just being in that atmosphere, I sat right in front of the student section. I had a great experience. I definitely liked that school a lot.”

While in town, the Malvern Prep standout was able to speak with Irish defensive line coach Al Washington for a little bit.

“He said it was good to see me and stuff like that,” Brickle said of Washington. “He was excited to see me. I was excited to see him, so it was a good experience.”

The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder has an extensive offer sheet that includes schools like Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon and USC among several others.

But Notre Dame was a place he was told he needed to check out.

“It's life after football,” Brickle said of his interest in the Irish. “Talking to a lot of people who go to Notre Dame and having my own connections, they were like, 'That's a school that should definitely be on your list because it's good football and it's good education and they keep you connected with God as well.'”

Brickle said the Irish lived up to the hype.

“They definitely did,” he said. “I just want to see how the recruiting process picks up.

“I just want to see how recruiting goes. Everything's been doing pretty well. I don't talk to them a lot, but I talk to them enough, so I'm just waiting to see what's next.”

He’s only made a couple other visits - to Rutgers and Cal - so far.

“That's it,” he said. “But everything is about to pick up a little bit.”

He’s planning trips to Miami and USC in the coming weeks.

When it comes time to make a decision, he’ll be looking at the off-field factors as much as the on-field ones.

“The connections, man. If school was to fire someone and then certain coaches stay, at least I have the connections with other coaches,” he said. “I feel like the connection is probably the main thing.

“And just what school can take care of me and my family. That's something that we stress. We all we want to be taken care of. My family's going to be taken care of regardless. But if the school can take care of me, that means a lot.”
