BREAKING | 2026 OL Sullivan Garvin Commits To Notre Dame
Recruiting never stops.
That’s why barely 24 hours after welcoming signees from the 2025 recruiting class, Notre Dame was back at it, adding a new member to its 2026 recruiting class.
2026 Michigan offensive lineman Sullivan Garvin just announced his commitment to the Irish.
“The reason I chose Notre Dame is because of their coaches,” said Garvin, who chose the Irish over offers from schools like Indiana, Purdue, Kansas, Cincinnati and Washington among several others.
“They have believed in me the most out of anyone. They've recruited me the hardest. I can tell they have a true plan for me. Some other great things that play into it as well; world-class education, great location being only an hour 20 from my house. It always just feels right when I'm there.”
The Allegan High School standout gives the Irish five members of their 2026 class along with quarterback Noah Grubbs, receiver Dylan Faison, linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. and cornerback Chaston Smith.
Garvin made multiple trips to South Bend including one camp and two games. During his most recent trip, for the Virginia game last month, the 6-foot-5, 295-pounder had an illuminating pregame conversation with Irish head coach Marucs Freeman.
“We were at the 50-yard-line and he was telling me how this is the place to be and I can be developed by the best in the country,” Garvin recalled. “They have really let me know that they want me to be a part of their team and that they see me as one of their guys.
“That was very special. That felt great. With him being the head coach, it's hard to talk to him besides text. That was awesome.”
The Irish have consistently made Garvin feel wanted…because he is wanted.
“Outside of football, they're great people,” Garvin said of the Notre Dame coaches. “They've always been nice to me. I've had great relationships with everyone on the staff. Freeman told me that I'm one of their high-value guys.”
Garvin was thrilled to land the offer from the Irish during a gameday visit in September. The Irish jumped to the top of his list and that status was cemented following fall visits to schools like Michigan, Indiana, Kansas and Minnesota.
“To be honest, I've kind of known the past few weeks,” Garvin said. “These last few visits I've been on after Notre Dame, I kind of started comparing because I knew that Notre Dame was my number one and that was where I wanted to go. Once I got down to my last few, I started comparing to see if they would compete with Notre Dame. Obviously they didn't, so Notre Dame is the place for me.”
He’s excited to join the class and to do so at an early stage.
“It is definitely special,” said Garvin. “It'll be cool being able to graduate early and enroll in the spring, all that. It'll be awesome building the group early, building the relationships early. It's going to be great once we all get to campus.
“It's really cool being locked in with my favorite school and it's going to be great just being able to lock in, focus on that school and then do what I got to do back at my school and keep everything up.”
