2026 Notre Dame OL Commit Sullivan Garvin Enjoys South Bend Return

Sullivan Garvin‍ enjoyed his return to Notre Dame for last month’s Junior Day.

“It was great,” the 2026 Irish offensive line commit said.

Garvin and fellow Notre Dame offensive line commit Ben Nichols were able to spend time together throughout the weekend.

“That was really good,” said Garvin. “We got there the day before, had dinner at Brother's. Me and him are becoming real close already, so it's been pretty cool.”

On Saturday, they were able to meet together with Irish offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.

“We got to watch some film from this year and then individually break down our film; my film and Ben's film,” Garvin explained.

“We started off with a lot of pass pro highlights from this year and then we watched a lot of their run game highlights. When we were going over mine, he was giving me tips on where to position my weight when I'm pulling.”

The Allegan High School standout also had a chance to sit down with head coach Marcus Freeman.

“I had a one-on-one with Coach Freeman in his office, which was really cool,” he said. “My family and I met with him.

“It was actually my first time ever being in his office, so that was pretty cool. Just to have a one-on-one with him and I guess to see him not as the head coach of Notre Dame, but just as Marcus Freeman in a way, just a person and having a conversation with him really.”

In addition to Nichols, Garvin spent time with fellow offensive line targets Tyler Merrill and Evan Goodwin. Merrill has since committed to the Irish.

“It was cool,” said Garvin. “We all sat together at the hockey game.

“The hockey game was cool. It was just all around a fun day really.”

Garvin is fired up about adding Merrill to the class.

“We're already pretty good friends,” he said. “He's super strong. I remember hearing that he benches like 375, so he's just explosive on the field.”

In addition to Goodwin and others, Garvin is also working on fellow Michigan offensive lineman Greg Patrick.

“I've been trying to do my part,” he said.

This offseason, Garvin has been training with Patrick and Patrick’s father, who is the offensive line coach at Patrick’s high school.

“It's been good,” Garvin said of the workouts. “It's been really good. I've definitely been improving my technique and mainly pass pro, working the right side a lot more. So becoming more comfortable with my right and left sides.”

Garvin is waiting to hear when he should return to South Bend next.

“Coach Freeman texted me and said he's working up the spring practice dates and when to get recruits there. He said he's going to try and get me back as soon as possible for spring practice.”
