2026 WR Zion Robinson An Interesting Target For Notre Dame

Zion Robinson‍ may be a Texas prospect, but the 2026 receiver is plenty familiar with the Midwest.

“He's been up in that part of the country for a few years,” Mansfield High School head coach Greg Gorge says. “He spent the last four years in that area when his dad was an assistant track coach at Ohio State.”

Some schools, including Notre Dame, are trying to lure Robinson back to the region.

The Irish offered the 6-foot-4, 180-pounder last week, joining a lengthy list that also includes schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, Michigan and Oregon along with several others.

“Zion is a really great kid,” George continues. “He has a lot of the physical attributes that everyone is looking for in a wide receiver. He is tall, he is long, has great speed. He's a really good athlete for us.

“He's a three-sport star. He's very intelligent. Education is a big thing for him. He does a great job in everything that he does. He's just a really great kid.”

Robinson also stars on the Mansfield basketball and track teams.

“He won State as a sophomore in the high jump,” says George. “We're 6A, so we compete against 250-plus of the biggest schools in Texas, and as a sophomore, he won State in the high jump. He also anchored our 4x1 that was also competing at State and placed.”

Robinson’s father, Khadevis, represented the United States in the 2004 and 2012 Olympics as a middle distance runner and is currently the director of the track program at TCU. George says Robinson would probably love to run track in college as well, but adds, “his ticket is going to be football for sure.”

“He's good on the track. He is good on the court, he's good on the football field and he's great in the classroom,” Robinson says.

Several colleges made their way to Mansfield High School during the Contact Period - “It was pretty crazy at times,” says George - but Notre Dame was one school Robinson “would definitely want to be bothered by,” according to his coach.

Robinson is expected to take some visits this spring and summer and the thinking is there’s a good chance South Bend will land on the itinerary at some point.

“I would think he's excited about that offer,” says George. “My recommendation would be to get a list of schools as early as possible, but I do know he needs to visit some and he's going to do things the right way. He's not just going to make a decision based on stuff he sees on TV or who says what.

“He's going to take his time to make the right decision for him. I think it would be in his best interest to get a list narrowed down and make a decision before the season. But I don't know, I honestly don't know what he has planned right now.”

And he’s going to make whatever school he chooses better, according to George.

“They're going to get a very physically talented player who is highly intelligent, very coachable and just a great person to be around.”
