Notre Dame made a big pull from Wisconsin’s Catholic Memorial High School last recruiting cycle and the Irish are looking to repeat that next cycle.
Earlier this month, the Irish extended an offer to 2027 defensive lineman/athlete Isaac Miller.
“One of the coaches came to my school and then I called Coach (Al) Washington,” Miller told Irish Sports Daily.
“They like the way I play; my size, personality, grades, all of that.”
Miller also has offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, Utah and Wisconsin and said he’s always excited about adding a new one, but acknowledged he didn’t see the Irish offer coming.
“This one was surprising because I didn't really know they were going to come out and offer me,” the 6-foot-5, 250-pounder said.
“I thought I was going to have to go get it at a camp. It was cool to get in touch with them, have them come out to my school and then do that. It was exciting.”
Miller knows a little bit about Notre Dame at this point.
“I know it's all great,” he said. “Second place, played in the national championship. My old teammate, Owen, goes there. There's a lot of history over there.”
The Owen he refers to is incoming Notre Dame offensive lineman Owen Strebig. Miller didn’t talk to Strebig a ton about the Irish, but enough to know that Strebig chose Notre Dame because it’s a great school.
Miller is planning to visit South Bend for a camp on June 6th.
“I was going to go to try to get the offer, but now it's just going to be building a better relationship with coaches, explore the campus, the lifestyle, and then learn everything about it over there,” Miller said of what he hopes to accomplish during that visit.
Last month, he made visits to Northwestern, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Nebraska.
He has one other visit set for the summer so far.
“I'm going to an Ohio State camp,” he said. “I'm hoping to build a relationship over there too. I'm going to travel down to Texas, get some work in down there, and then go to a TCU camp.”
It’s early, but Miller knows what he’s looking for from a college.
“Definitely the environment, the academics, the coaching, the culture, the team, the relationships, all of that.”
