2027 TE Luke Brewer Fired Up About Notre Dame Offer
Notre Dame did its due diligence this spring, but it didn’t take all that much for the Irish to decide it was time to offer Luke Brewer.
“Coach (Mike) Denbrock came to school and then Coach (Harris) Bivin came and watched me work out,” the 2027 Iowa tight end told Irish Sports Daily. “Then, I got on a call with Coach Denbrock and he told me that they were offering.
“I was hyped up. I work out with Eli Raridon, the tight end up there, who is going to be a starter next year. He's from Valley, like 10 minutes away from me. And we have the same speed coach, so I grew up working out with him. So, it's definitely really cool because he tells me a lot about the place and how special it is.”
The Norwalk High School standout was impressed with both Denbrock and Bivin.
“Coach Denbrock is a really cool guy,” he said. “I didn't know how long he's been around college football. He's been everywhere, and that's really cool. For him to be the offensive coordinator too and the tight ends coach, it just shows why the tight ends get so much love at Notre Dame and why they're really good, because they're getting coached by - not only a guy who's been around for so long - but also the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame. So that's cool.
“Coach Bivin, he's an awesome dude. I thought I was a pretty big dude, but standing next to him, he makes me feel tiny. I'm not going to lie. He's just a cool dude to talk to for sure.”
Brewer camped in South Bend last summer and already has his eyes on a second visit date.
“The next step would be getting there,” he said. “June 6th would be the plan to get out there if everything works out here with my family, which it should. Just go up there because they've got a barbecue thing and get to know all the other coaching staff, and then maybe just do some a little fundamental workout thing.”
The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder is looking forward to learning more about the program and the people within it.
“Obviously you talk about campus and history and everything, and everyone knows how rich in history Notre Dame is, but how the culture is one thing I'm big on,” he said. “How do the guys bond outside of football? That's what I told Coach Bivin and Coach Denbrock, one of the biggest things for me is fit.
“I need to see myself being able to live there, not just to play football, but also go to school. Just seeing how the guys interact with each other and everything, that's a big piece for me. That's something that I look at when I go down on campus.”
Brewer also has offers from schools like Iowa, Iowa State, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, Penn State, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford and Oregon among others.
doesn’t have any other visits locked in, but knows some schools he wants to see.
“I'm completely open right now, but I definitely have a couple that I really want to get out to again,” he said. “I definitely want to get to Ohio State, Tennessee, Penn State, and Miami along with Notre Dame, and then Oregon also; those five or six for sure.
He’ll be looking at more than just college football when it comes to picking a school.
“The coaching's big,” he said. “I have big dreams - I don't even call them dreams anymore - I call them goals. Two years ago, they would've been dreams, and now they're my goals. I have a goal to go play at the next level beyond college, and I want to go somewhere that has the best chance to get me there and build me into the best football player I can be. That's a big thing.
“I want to win games, and then I also have to be around people that I want to be around. Those three things are what I'm looking for, for sure.”
