After his previous visit to South Bend earned him an offer from Notre Dame, Cameron Wagner‍ is set to return June 6th.

“I just want to build a relationship with my coaches and get my dad's side of the family out there and have my family meet them and keep building that relationship and see if it's the right fit for me,” the 2027 Illinois offensive lineman told Irish Sports Daily.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder says his relationship with Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph and offensive line assistant Rob Delaney has been “great” since the offer.

“I'm on weekly calls with them and Coach Delaney came by the school and so did Coach Rudolph,” the St. Joseph-Ogden High School standout said. “They both came by the school during the live period. It's just been great building that relationship with them.

“They're just like, 'You're our guy and we really think you can fit into the Notre Dame lifestyle. We think that your values and our values match up and we think you'd be a great player here.'”

Wagner, who has a growing list of scholarship offers, understands why Rudolph and Delaney believe that.

“Absolutely,” said Wagner. “My family is Catholic. I just feel like I can match up with their values.”

Wagner’s offer sheet also includes schools like Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Purdue.

In addition to Notre Dame, he has a few other trips on the docket in the coming weeks.

“I'm going to Texas A&M, Illinois, Penn State, Ohio State, Nebraska and Florida,” he said.

He doesn’t expect to start narrowing his list down for a while.

“I'm not sure when that is, but I probably will sometime before the next spring session, so next spring ball,” he said.

Wagner knows what he’s looking for in a college.

“Just the right fit for me and my family; somewhere we all are able to connect with coaches on a personal level and that we build a relationship with them and then a program that will develop me into a great football player and a great man after football.”
