2027 TE Jaxon Dollar Shines at Irish Invasion, Eyes Notre Dame Return
Al Washington had the most talent on the field at Irish Invasion, but Mike Denbrock’s tight end group was a close second.
Five 2027 tight ends holding an offer from Notre Dame attended Friday’s camp, including East Lincoln (N.C.) star Jaxon Dollar.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder was impressive throughout the day and felt he delivered a solid performance for Denbrock and the Irish staff.
“I feel pretty good,” Dollar said. “There's a few things I could have done better, like my routes and also catching the ball. I didn't feel like I caught as well as I could.”
The high level of talent in the tight end group stood out and offered a new experience for Dollar. While he's no stranger to the camp circuit, sharing the field with tight ends of similar caliber was a first.
“Most of the tight ends that were there were ranked today,” stated Dollar. “I felt like I was in my respective group today. Like other camps, not as many prospects like me, but I felt pretty good out there.
Despite the competitive atmosphere, Dollar didn’t feel any added pressure. Instead, he embraced the chance to justify the staff’s belief in him.
“I feel like it's more that we wanted to prove ourselves right and not just feel like we're out here just because we have to be,” Dollar stated. “We're out here to prove that we have something.”
Denbrock didn’t hold back as he challenged his group for a significant portion of the day.
“I took out that on the top of my routes, I need to get lower instead of staying as high because I'm a high type of runner,” explained Dollar. “I just have to get lower on my breaks and that's really about it.”
Dollar also left impressed by what he saw from Notre Dame off the field. The culture, especially around academics and support, stood out.
“Everybody's gonna care about everybody,” Dollar stated. “Everybody knows everybody. And then like, my school, nobody's really on me about my schoolwork. I feel like they're really on them here.”
Dollar’s summer is shaping up to be a little different than most. He’s got both international travel and major recruiting visits on the calendar.
‘I'm going go home for about two days and then I'm going to Barbados,” explained Dollar. “I'm gonna come back and then on June 21st, I'm gonna go to Georgia and I'm going to see on the 22nd if I can go to Tennessee.”
Notre Dame will likely host Dollar again in the fall and he already has a game circled.
“I want to get back out here for that first game against Texas A&M,” said Dollar. “That'd be a great game to come to and then I want to get back here a lot more.”
