Rob Larson certainly made a name for himself as one of the standout performers at last week’s Irish Invasion.
“I had a blast,” the 2027 California receiver told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was super fun.
“Getting to meet all the coaches and just getting to see what Notre Dame's all about. It was really, really exciting for me. It's been my dream school for years, so just getting to see the campus and meet the coaches was just an awesome experience.”
The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder made several eye-popping catches throughout the event.
“I think I came down with some really great contested balls over defenders,” the Folsom High School standout said. “Just coming down with the ball and making hard catches that I don't think others could have made. I thought I did good with that. I thought I had good routes. I felt really good and quick out of my breaks.”
Irish receivers coach Mike Brown and receivers analyst coach Dom Spalding provided positive feedback.
“They told me I had a great day,” said Larson. “I was talking to Coach Brown and Coach Spalding a lot that day. I got to hang out with them a little bit after at their BBQ. They were just telling me that I looked really good and my hands are looking great and they were really impressed with what they saw.”
Larson, who has early offers from Arizona State and UNLV among others, isn’t sure what’s next for him and the Irish, but hopes to stay in contact.
“We didn't dive too big into that,” he said. “I'm a 2027, so it's hard for them to reach out at this point, but we're going to stay in contact and hopefully something happens around June when coaches are able to contact me.”
He would like to return, though.
“For sure,” he said. “I definitely want to come out for a game this year and check it out and see the atmosphere on game day. All I've heard about it is how crazy it is and how big the crowd is. I just want to see it in person for sure.”
He has trips to Ole Miss and Oklahoma State coming up later this month.
But he leaves with a strong first impression of Notre Dame.
“Like Coach (Marcus) Freeman was saying, Notre Dame is definitely about family and not individual people. I could really feel that when I was there. It felt like a family and you're surrounded by great coaches who are there to help you. Even the people around me at the camp were just helpful, the kids too.”
